The Executive Order that has covered all expired driver’s license, CDL, identification cards, and learner’s permits is expiring. Effective immediately, customers with one of these expired MDOT MVA products must renew, test or reapply by August 15, 2021

After August 15, 2021, a customer with a driver’s license expired over one-year will need to retake the written and driver’s skills test before they can renew their driver’s license.  Those with products expired August 16, 2020 on will no longer be covered by the previous Executive Order and must renew before the one-year mark or they will have to retake all of the tests.

Driving is a serious responsibility. Whether you are a first time driver or a seasoned veteran behind the wheel, MDOT MVA is committed to ensuring the customers we license are prepared and ready for the road.
