Bulletin: Driver Education Industry Bulletin
From: Business Licensing and Compliance

Purpose:

These meetings are intended to train the Drivers Education Industry with the updated curriculum and training guides with an industry wide implementation date of 10/5/26.

Summary:

The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) is pleased to announce the release of the 2026 Driver Education Curriculum and Instructor Guides. These materials have been updated to reflect the current curriculum requirements and instructional expectations for Maryland's licensed driver education schools.

To support implementation of the updated curriculum, the MVA will conduct a series of virtual training sessions for licensed driver education school owners. Owners are encouraged to attend and may invite instructors who will be delivering the revised curriculum.

Each training session will provide an overview of the curriculum updates, instructional expectations, implementation guidance, and an opportunity for questions and answers at the end of the presentation.  A school may attend as many sessions as they would like.

Driver education schools should ensure that all instructional staff become familiar with the updated curriculum and instructor guides before implementation.

The MVA requires that all licensed driver education schools will begin using the 2026 Driver Education Curriculum for all new classes beginning on or after Monday, October 5, 2026.

The MVA appreciates your continued partnership and commitment to providing high-quality driver education to Maryland's new drivers.
