Purpose

To inform the Dealer and Tag & Title community about the ability to update a customer’s
address in an ERT system

Summary

Effective January 24, 2024, dealers and tag and title entities will be able to update a Maryland
resident’s MVA address prior to processing a title/registration transaction if the address on the
resident’s MD license or MVA-issued ID card is not their most recent and accurate address.

Please note a few important items:

• You can only process the address change for Maryland residents who have a valid
  Maryland issued Driver’s license or MVA-issued ID card with a Maryland address.
• Make sure to process and complete the change of address transaction first, and then
  complete any other title/registration transactions second.
