MDOT Motor Vehicle Administration

MVA, ABATE of Maryland, and Partners Kick Off Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month

Press release |

Welcome to the new MVA.Maryland.gov!

You’ve reached the new website for the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration. Thanks for visiting!

WHAT: The Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration, ABATE of Maryland, Inc., and other community partners will kick off Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month at the agency’s Salisbury branch. Local community organizations and vendors will also be available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., providing safety-related information.

WHEN: 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2024

WHO: Chrissy Nizer, Motor Vehicle Administrator and Governor Moore’s Highway Safety Representative
Ken Eaton, ABATE of Maryland, Inc.
Mary Beth Carozza, Senator, Maryland
Wayne Hartman, Delegate, Maryland

WHERE: MVA Salisbury Branch Office
251 Tilghman Rd, Salisbury, MD 21804

WHY: Each year in Maryland, more than 70 motorcycle riders and passengers are killed in traffic crashes and nearly 1,000 riders and passengers are injured. When there is a crash involving a car or truck and a motorcycle, the motorcyclist almost always loses. Because motorcycle riders are not protected by the vehicle, like the occupants of a car or truck, they are injured in nearly three out of four crashes. Drivers and riders have the responsibility to share the road safely.
