The MDTA will also provide the best travel times and key safety tips for motorists to cross the Bay Bridge throughout the holiday weekend and beyond.

WHY:
In 2021, 559 people were killed on Maryland roadways. Nearly half of those fatalities occurred from May through September, with the deadliest month being August with 67 fatalities. Each year, the causes of those crashes remain the same including impaired, distracted and aggressive driving, as well as lack of seat belt use – all reasons that are completely preventable.
