How to apply

Apply by mail - Complete and sign application VR-302.
A separate application and fee are needed for each set of plates.
Mail the completed application and a check or money order to the MVA and the plates will be mailed to you.
(Please note: Plates have an additional yearly renewal fee.)

Eligible vehicles
- Class A (passenger cars)
- Class M (multi-purpose vehicles)
- Class EPO (trucks 10,000 lbs or less)
- Class G (non-freight trailers)
Fees
Specialty license plate fees are additional charges assessed on top of the standard vehicle registration or registration renewal fees.
Initial fees
$25 Upgrade fee
$40 Substitute plate fee (applies only if changing from a standard plate to this plate)
Annual fee
$12.50 (benefits the Chesapeake Bay Trust)
