Replacement of a License, Permit or Identification (ID) Card for Victims of Robbery

Notes:

  1. If you lost your license, permit or ID card, you do not need to report it to the MVA. Please refer to MVA’s procedure for: Obtaining a Duplicate License, Permit or ID Card. You can now renew or replace your current Drivers License or Maryland MVA ID card online. Please visit mva.maryland.gov for specific information. Another alternative is to use our MVA KIOSK terminals located at any MVA location near you. All duplicate noncommercial licenses or ID cards processed by these methods will be mailed to you. You should receive your duplicate within 10 business days.
  2. If you have been processed for a duplicate GLS Learner's Permit, a moped permit or a duplicate Federally Non-Compliant driver's license you may use the paper "Interim Receipt" that you received as a temporary permit or license to drive on until you receive your actual photo permit or license in the mail. You should expect to receive your duplicate ID card, GLS permit, moped permit or license in the mail within 10 business days.

If you wish to apply for your duplicate product online at the MVA web site or via an MVA Kiosk you will need your noncommercial driver’s license or MD ID (Driver’s License Number)​ and an MVA PIN number or the last 4-digits of your social security number.

Effective January 1, 2014, your duplicate Maryland Identification Card or duplicate Type I GLS Learner's Permit, and any new Federally Non-Compliant DL/IDs will NOT be issued at the time of your transaction. However, it will be mailed directly to your Maryland residential address, unless you have a mailing address on file with MVA.​
