EMPLOYEE ​SPOTLIGHT​

John - Print Shop Supervisor​

​In late 2024, the MVA print shop decided to purchase a wide-format printer to bring our mural production in-house. The goal was to save money in the long run and provide more flexibility in our services. There was just one problem - nobody at the MVA had ever produced a mural before. That's where this employee came in. From sourcing the correct vinyl for our walls to learning brand new software for print processing, to hours of developing an installation method that our facilities team could follow, he spent most of 2025 developing the MVA process. In 2025, the MVA was able to produce its first two murals - one for the employee entrance at GB Headquarters, and one inside the renovated Glen Burnie Branch. This has saved us over $5,000 alone, with plans for many more murals across the state. I firmly believe there's not one other person inside MDOT that could have pulled this together from nothing, and we are extremely grateful for his dedication and hard work.​​
