| Glen Burnie, Md. (August 5, 2019) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA) will host REAL ID informational tables at 10 events statewide during the 2019 National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, August 6. At events in Bel Air, Columbia, Cumberland, District Heights, Easton, New Carrolton, Reisterstown, Salisbury, Severna Park and Silver Spring, MDOT MVA REAL ID Ambassadors will answer questions, provide insight and engage with the community.
With 14 months until the October 1, 2020, deadline for federal REAL ID compliance, more than half of Maryland’s five million licensed drivers and ID card holders have provided the required REAL ID documents. Through education, outreach and operational initiatives such as increased staff, expanded hours and appointments, MDOT MVA continues to help customers navigate the REAL ID process. Since April, REAL ID ambassadors have visited more than 65 fairs, festivals, public meetings and other events and have educated thousands of citizens about REAL ID. More than 100 additional visits are scheduled through fall 2019.
