Maryland MOTORS Program Expands to Maryland’s Eastern Shore

GLEN BURNIE, MD (September 4, 2025) – The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration’s (MVA) Highway Safety Office, in partnership with the Maryland State Police, is expanding its popular Maryland MOTORS (Motor Officers Teaching Other Riders Safety) motorcycle training program to the Eastern Shore. Launched in 2021 with three Central Maryland locations, the program has continued to grow in response to strong demand and has expanded throughout the State.

Maryland MOTORS is a safety class for civilian motorcycle riders delivered by police motor officers. Each session features a morning segment with a motorcycle check, classroom instruction, a mentored ride, and professional riding techniques. The afternoon segment focuses on classroom instruction, a low-speed training course, and motorcycle control exercises. Classes are limited to 16 participants, maintaining an instruction ratio of one motor officer per two riders.

New Class Offerings in Easton

Maryland MOTORS will now be available for riders at the VFW Post 5118 in Easton (355 Glebe Road, Easton, MD 21601), with these free class dates currently open for registration:

  • Thursday, September 18, 2025
  • Tuesday, September 23, 2025

For more information on the class agenda and registration, visit ZeroDeathsMD.gov/maryland-motors. Additional classes will be available in 2026 throughout the State.

These classes provide a valuable opportunity for Eastern Shore riders to receive expert instruction from motorcycle police officers and enhance their safety skills in a structured, professional setting. This complements the Serious About Safety program, a department-wide focus to drive the Maryland Department of Transportation's safety goals and save lives.
