“The Mobile Bus allows us to bring our premier customer service directly to communities,” MDOT MVA Administrator Chrissy Nizer said. “We are excited to reopen this additional resource to serve our customers in an efficient and convenient way.”
MDOT MVA Mobile Bus will travel to the following locations on various days beginning in August:
Chestertown 300 High Street Chestertown, MD 21620 |
Friendship Heights 4433 South Park Avenue Chevy Chase, MD 20815 |
Ocean City 64th & Coastal Highway Ocean City, MD 21842 |
Days and hours will vary at each location, with 320 monthly appointments at the Chestertown and Friendship Heights sites and 160 monthly appointments at Ocean City. Appointments can be made through MDOT MVA’s Central Scheduling System.
Since introduced in 1997, the Mobile Bus has consistently achieved a customer satisfaction rate of more than 99%. According to available data starting in 2002, the Mobile Bus has completed 201,704 transactions, helping Maryland residents obtain the products and services they need.
Customers can complete the following services at the MDOT MVA Mobile Bus:
- Obtain a renewal/duplicate/corrected Maryland driver’s license, commercial driver’s license, or identification card;
- Obtain a copy of a certified driving record;
- Register to vote; and
- Register as an organ donor.
To ensure the health and safety of customers and staff, a limit of three customers will be served inside the bus at any given time. In accordance with guidance issued by Governor Larry Hogan, MDOT MVA customers and staff are no longer required to wear masks. However, face coverings are still recommended for individuals who have not been vaccinated.
Marylanders are reminded that under Governor’s Hogan’s Executive Order. driver’s licenses expired between March 12, 2020, and August 15, 2020 must renew by the August 15, 2021, deadline. After this date, the standard legal requirement of retaking both the written and behind-the-wheel portions of the driving test will be in effect for those with a driver’s license expired more than one year.
The extension for all other expired documents issued by MDOT MVA, including vehicle registrations and handicap placards, officially expired June 30, 2021. Maryland residents with expired registrations are encouraged to visit the MDOT MVA eStore to quickly and easily renew.
