Baltimore, MD (September 18, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) and Baltimore Orioles are proud to announce that Oriole Park at Camden Yards has become the first MLB stadium to accept Maryland Mobile Driver's Licenses (mDL) and Mobile IDs for age verification. This groundbreaking partnership brings the convenience and security of digital credentials to the ballpark, allowing fans with State-issued mDLs, which more than 300,000 Marylanders enjoy to date—to quickly and securely verify their age. The Mobile ID is a digital version of a state-issued driver’s license or identification card stored on users' smartphones. It can be used to purchase alcoholic beverages from Camden Yards vendor stations. Customers simply ‘tap’ their mDL at checkout to confirm their age in seconds while protecting the customers’ privacy. The technology to accept mDLs is available at 31 vendor stands throughout Camden Yards, including self-checkout stations, making the process more seamless. "The State of Maryland continues to be a national leader in prioritizing customer privacy and convenience," said MVA Administrator Chrissy Nizer. “Partnering with the Baltimore Orioles and Camden Yards demonstrates how we’re embracing Mobile Driver’s License technology so fans can enjoy a smoother, faster checkout experience while at an event knowing their personal information is protected." The MVA continues to expand the use and acceptance of mDL technology across the state, making it easier than ever for Maryland residents to use their digital IDs in everyday life. Maryland Mobile ID is currently accepted at select TSA checkpoints nationwide, including Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). It’s accepted at participating BWI restaurants, some Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services retail stores, self-service kiosks at MVA branch offices and Merriweather Post Pavilion. The State of Maryland’s mDL is certified using International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 18013-5 standards and privacy protections ensure that businesses cannot track its usage. Unlike physical IDs, customers only share the necessary information that they need for age verification with merchants, which does not include their name, home address and exact date of birth. Additionally, any other state mDL meeting the ISO standards can be accepted. Maryland Mobile ID is free and available to be added to Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, or Samsung Wallet for residents with a valid Maryland driver’s license or state-issued ID.
