ANNAPOLIS, MD (August 26, 2025) – In a continued effort to improve access to vital services for Marylanders, Lt. Governor Aruna K. Miller today joined Maryland Department of Transportation Acting Secretary Samantha J. Biddle, Department of Veterans and Military Families Acting Secretary Ed Rothstein and Motor Vehicle Administrator Chrissy Nizer to celebrate the opening of a new Veterans Services Office at the Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration’s (MVA) Annapolis branch.

The new office represents another step forward in the Moore-Miller Administration’s mission to deliver efficient, centralized government services to the people of Maryland. It offers veterans, active-duty service members and their families a convenient, one-stop experience with access to benefits counseling, claims assistance and other critical support services – all in the same location as licensing, vehicle registration and identification services.

“The Moore-Miller Administration is committed to Leaving No One Behind, especially those who have served our country,” said Lt. Governor Miller. “By bringing a Veterans Service Office into the Annapolis MVA branch, we are meeting Marylanders where they are and ensuring our veterans and their families have easy access to the resources, care, and support they deserve. This is about making government work better and more efficiently for the people we serve.”

The Annapolis branch is already home to a wide range of services, including TSA Precheck, TWIC processing, birth and death certificate services through the Maryland Department of Health, E-ZPass services and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. The addition of the Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families further expands the branch’s role as a service hub for Marylanders.

“Having these hubs of government services together at MVA branches across the state saves precious tax dollars and people’s time,” said Maryland Department of Transportation Acting Secretary Biddle. “The Department is proud to further the Moore-Miller Administration’s priorities of increasing access to services and centralizing resources.”

“Maryland veterans and their families deserve timely, accessible support in navigating and filing for the benefits they’ve earned. This new Veterans Services Office brings that support closer to where they live and work - removing barriers and ensuring they can access care and benefits with confidence. Last year alone, our Benefits team helped secure more than $54 million in federal benefits for over 6,000 veterans, dependents, and survivors—life-changing results for those we serve,” said Department of Veterans and Military Families Acting Secretary Rothstein. “By co-locating with MVA branches, we’re cutting wait times, expanding reach, and meeting veterans where they are. We’re grateful for the continued partnership with Administrator Nizer and the MVA team as we work together to serve Maryland’s military-connected community.”

Located at 160 Harry S Truman Pkwy, the ADA-compliant Annapolis branch features ample parking and public transportation access. It was selected for its accessibility and ability to serve as a central hub for multiple services. The Annapolis office is one of eight Veterans Services Offices opened at MVA branches since 2019, with another scheduled to open in Waldorf this September.

"This new Veterans Services Office brings essential resources closer to the communities that we serve," said MVA Administrator Chrissy Nizer. "Our mission is to make state services more accessible, more efficient and more responsive to the needs of Marylanders."

The new office is part of MVA’s broader initiative to centralize and simplify access to state resources. As part of this effort, the agency recently launched a Data Dashboard on its website, enabling Maryland residents to see a complete list of government services available at each MVA branch office.
