MEDIA ADVISORY: MDOT MVA, Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families to Open Veterans Service Office in Annapolis

WHAT:
The Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA), in partnership with the Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families (DVMF), will officially open a new Veterans Service Center at the Annapolis MVA Branch. The office will help veterans, active-duty service members and their families access federal, state and local benefits and services. This expansion reflects MVA’s commitment to providing a one-stop-government shop experience where Marylanders can access a wide range of state services in a single and convenient location.

This marks the eighth Veterans Service Office opened at an MVA location since 2019, part of a statewide initiative to improve access to resources for Maryland’s military community.

WHO:
Lt. Governor Aruna Miller
Representatives from the Maryland Department of Transportation
Acting Secretary Ed Rothstein, Department of Veterans and Military Families
Local officials, veterans, community stakeholders, MVA and DVMF employees

WHEN:
Tuesday, August 26 at 4:00 p.m.

WHERE:
MVA Annapolis Branch
160 Harry S. Truman Pkwy.
Annapolis, MD 21401

WHY:
The new Veterans Service Center will assist the thousands of veterans in Anne Arundel County and others in nearby communities in accessing the benefits and support they have earned. Each office is staffed with a full-time veteran benefits specialist who can help with claims, transition assistance, and more.

Last year DVMF’s veterans’ services program helped secure $54.4 million in federal VA benefits for over 6,000 Maryland veterans, dependents and survivors—a record year. This expansion reflects the Moore/Miller Administration’s continued commitment to supporting those who served and their families.
