GLEN BURNIE, MD (April 20, 2023) – On Saturday, April 22, the Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration’s Glen Burnie branch office will again participate in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Customers at the branch or any Marylander in the area may visit to safely and securely dispose of unused or expired medicine — including controlled substance prescriptions. During similar initiatives in 2022, the agency collected 18 pounds of medications that were then properly and safely discarded. Unused prescription drugs that are simply thrown in the trash can be retrieved and abused or illegally sold, and unused drugs that are flushed can contaminate the water supply. Properly disposing of unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs saves lives and protects the environment. The Motor Vehicle Administration is pleased to offer this service and encourages citizens to use this convenient and responsible method to dispose of unused or expired prescription medications. WHEN:

All 23 Maryland State Police Barracks are equipped with secure drug collection boxes and are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for unused medication drop off.
