GLEN BURNIE, MD (October 26, 2022) – Following on a successful event in the spring, the Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA) is again partnering with the Maryland Motor Truck Association (MMTA) to host a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Information Day on Saturday, November 5. The day is designed to educate the public and potential CDL applicants about what is required to become a CDL holder in Maryland, the skills needed for this critical duty and how they can take the next steps to acquire a CDL. MDOT MVA and MMTA will also be joined by the MDOT State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA), the MDOT Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA), the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA), MDOT MVA’s Highway Safety Office, Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ (AACPS) Transportation Division and others. Each agency and organization will have a representative on-site to speak with current and potential CDL applicants about opportunities with the agency, including training and career advancement. MDOT MVA staff can also assist in answering questions about adding certain restrictions to a CDL license and the modernized CDL test that went into effect in August. WHO: Chrissy Nizer, MDOT MVA Administrator and Governor Larry Hogan’s Highway Safety Representative Louis Campion, President and CEO, Maryland Motor Truck Association Representatives from MDOT SHA, MDOT MTA, MDTA, MDOT MVA’s Highway Safety Office and AACPS WHEN: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2022 WHERE: MDOT MVA Headquarters 6601 Ritchie Highway Glen Burnie, MD 21062 WHY: Over the past few years, the MDOT MVA has worked to offer more accessibility for prospective CDL holders such as the ability to make same-day appointments due to cancellations and special licensing days to allow more drivers access to testing. Additionally, CDL products now have an eight-year expiration date, the same as non-commercial licenses (with the exception of hazmat endorsements), and holders can renew their license online and can submit their medical certificate electronically. ### |
