WHAT: Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) Secretary James F. Ports, Jr. will join Maryland State Police Superintendent Col. Woodrow W. Jones III, MDOT MVA Administrator Chrissy Nizer, other state officials and community partners to announce the preliminary number of deaths on Maryland roadways in 2021, as well as recent findings from a MDOT Road Safety Attitudes and Behavior Survey. The announcement will take place during Maryland’s Annual Highway Safety Summit. The event highlights Maryland’s commitment to a statewide effort known as the Strategic Highway Safety Plan, a collaboration between federal, state and local partners to eliminate the number of traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2030.
