Hogan Administration Delivers Combined MDOT MVA/DNR Service Center

One Stop Shopping for Boat Trailer, Driver’s, Fishing, Hunting and Crabbing Licenses Now Available in Salisbury

SALISBURY, MD – Delivering on the Hogan Administration’s Customer Service Promise, Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) Deputy Secretary Jim Ports today joined Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Assistant Secretary Allan Fisher and Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA) Administrator Christine Nizer in officially unveiling a combined MDOT MVA/DNR service center in Salisbury.

“Our administration is committed to providing the highest level of customer service from our state government,” said Governor Larry Hogan. “This convenient one-stop-shop service center will save time and increase efficiency for thousands of Marylanders.”

The newly combined office replaces the old DNR Salisbury Service Center, which serviced approximately 18,400 customers and processed 23,700 transactions in FY 2017.  In FY 2017, the MDOT MVA Salisbury branch office processed 127,785 transactions.

The Salisbury office combines the resources of these two state agencies, giving customers access to both MDOT MVA and DNR services, including:

  • Vehicle and boat registration and titles,
  • Recreational hunting, fishing and crabbing licenses,
  • Commercial fishing licenses,
  • Off-road vehicle permits, and
  • Excise tax collections.

“The Department of Natural Resources is pleased to partner with MDOT MVA to better serve residents on the Eastern Shore,” said Maryland Natural Resources Secretary Mark Belton. “Wicomico County is a hub for business, agriculture, and transportation—areas in which our two departments offer various license, title, transportation, and permit services. The ability to jointly provide access to our services under one roof greatly enhances our customers' experience.”

Additionally, the Salisbury MDOT MVA branch office features TSA Pre✓® and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card services, as well as the ability for customers to renew a boat registration at one of the branch kiosks.

The TSA Pre✓® program allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to enroll directly in TSA Pre✓® – an expedited screening program that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep a laptop in its case and compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on, in select TSA airport checkpoint screening lanes.  TSA Pre✓® provides the opportunity for Marylanders to get expedited screening for airline travel.

The TWIC card is a vital credential for the trucking community, maritime workers, longshoremen, and contractors to access secure port locations.  As of October 6th, the Salisbury branch has processed 230 TSA Pre-Check and 79 TWIC card transactions.

“We are excited to give the residents of the Eastern Shore a convenient location to complete their MDOT MVA and DNR transactions,” said Deputy Transportation Secretary Ports. “MDOT is committed to providing a ‘One Stop Shop’ experience where customers can address all their transportation needs in one centralized location, including TSA Pre✓® and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card services.”

The MDOT MVA/DNR Service Center is located at 251 Tilghman Road, Salisbury, MD 21801. The MDOT MVA/DNR Service Center is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.  On Saturdays from 8:30 until 12 noon, the MVA services are available, but not the DNR services.

Salisbury is the second combined MDOT MVA/DNR location. A combined service center in Essex opened in May 2017. Combined, the Essex and Salisbury offices have processed more than 4,500 DNR transactions to date.
